The Week of the Intellectual Property, the Public Interest, and COVID-19 2020 and 2021 are organized by 5 South American organizations in coordination with the American University Washington School of Law team (WCL).

Karisma Foundation

Civil society organization that seeks to ensure that digital technologies protect and advance fundamental human rights and promote social justice from four strategic lines of work (Democratization of knowledge and culture, Autonomy and dignity, Civic participation, Social inclusion) and two support areas: Digital Security and Privacy Laboratory -K+LAB-, and Technology Appropriation Laboratory.
It is one of the main Latin American civil society organizations that work to promote human rights in the digital world.


IFARMA Foundation

The IFARMA Foundation is a non-profit organization that develops research, consulting, and activism activities focused on the issues of access, use, and quality of medicines. IFARMA’s main objective is to positively influence public health and medicines policies in Colombia, as well as at the regional level in the Americas and the world, in order to guarantee the human right to health and access to treatment. with equity for all who need it.


Misión Salud

The Misión Salud Foundation is a private and non-profit organization that aims to promote and defend the right to health, emphasizing access to necessary medicines to prevent and treat diseases and prolong life through the development of initiatives aimed at ensuring universal and equitable access.


Centro ISUR

The Internet and Society Center of the Universidad del Rosario (ISUR) is an interdisciplinary space for research and training that works with a public interest and human rights perspective on problems related to the social challenges posed by technological changes. ISUR seeks to generate greater knowledge about the Internet and best practices by companies and States, which promote respect for human rights, technological empowerment, and the democratization of knowledge and information in Colombia and Latin America.


InternetLab

InternetLab is an independent, interdisciplinary research center that promotes academic debate and the production of knowledge in law and technology, especially in the internet field.

Constituted as a non-profit entity, InternetLab acts as a point of articulation between academics and representatives of the public, private and civil society sectors, encouraging the development of projects that address the challenges of elaborating and implementing public policies in new technologies, such as privacy, access to culture and knowledge, freedom of expression, and gender and identity issues.

The Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property (PIJIP) is the internationally recognized intellectual property and information law research and academic program of American University Washington College of Law (AUWCL). Our prolific IP faculty has expertise in every major topic of the field, including Copyright, Patent, Trademark, Trade Secret, Cyberlaw, and international IP.
