The open exchange of ideas is central to the Week Intellectual Property, the Public Interest, and Covid-19 mission. To achieve it is necessary to build an environment that accepts diversity and provides a safe environment for everyone.
This guide applies to all the events of the Intellectual Property, the public interest, and Covid-19 Week: collaborative schedule, panels, central sessions, closure, dissemination of content on social networks included.
Expected behavior
Here is our list of principles to ensure a productive and respectful event for all who participate:
- Be polite and consider differences in opinions and technical restrictions (internet access, camera availability, etc.).
- Be punctual: Be online at the scheduled time.
- Try to make brief interventions during discussions.
- Participate with respect, actively listening to people without interrupting them.
- If possible, use headphones and make sure you are in a quiet place without noise.
- You will be interpreted in two languages. So please, speak slowly and pronounce clearly to help to obtain a high-quality translation.
Unacceptable behavior
- Any action towards a person that interferes with their participation;
- Any conduct that discriminates or denigrates a person based on race, ethnicity, religion, citizenship, nationality, age, physical appearance, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law;
- Verbal or written comments or visual images that are offensive, degrading, humiliating or harmful to any person;
- Intimidating or threatening expressions and attitudes;
- The promotion of the aforementioned behaviors.
How to report unacceptable behavior
- Anyone who experiences any of the situations mentioned above should write an email to viviana.rangel@karisma.org.co
Consequences of unacceptable behavior
If a participant in the Intellectual Property, Public Interest, and Covid-19 Week engages in unacceptable behavior, the host may remove them from the activity without prior notice.
Participation in future sessions will be prohibited.
This guide is not intended to limit open discussion. It applies only to behavior in event sessions.
